Q) My years old son is suffering from asthma past three years. Till the age of 5 years he was absolutely ok after that he is suffering from asthma during the winter and rainy season. Recently we observed that he is suffering from congestion after physical activities like playing, running in the school. We have consulted many doctors all of them suggested medicine like asthalin, omnikortile, lasma and inhaler like asthalin, budicord, seroflo etc.. My son is ok when he is using these medication but asthma reappearing when he discontinue the medicines. We are in dielmma if he is suffering from asthma or heart problem.
A) From the case history of your child you have given, it seems your child has respiratory problem and not heart problem. It can be confirmed by physical examination and tests; you should consult a physician for the same.
Such problems do occur in children, may be because they get exposed to allergens and otherwise. An asthma attack can be triggered from various factors like
allergy, infection, change in whether, infection, change in whether, exercise, emotional factors and more. The allergy induced asthma is the most common.
There are two types of medicines, short term, for immediate symptomatic relief and long term to subside the disease. As you said, it is common that the symptom reappear after the child stop the medicines. But it is not advisable to abruptly stop all the medicines. I would recommend that you follow the advice of your physician on this regard.
