How long does it take for the food to be digested

Q) What is the time required for the food to be digested. What is the best time for the dinner.

A) The food takes 24 and 72 h in healthy individuals to get digested. It takes about 6–8 h for food to pass through the stomach and small intestine. Food then enters the large intestine (colon) for further digestion and absorption of water. Elimination of undigested food residue through the large intestine usually begins after 24 h.

Dinner by 7pm is the best time and you will have enough time for the digestion before you go to bed.
