Uses of this medication:

Domperidone is used to speed up emptying of stomach by increasing the movements and contraction of stomach .It is used to reduce feeling of sickness and vomiting caused by other drugs.

How to use this medication:

Domperidone tab is taken orally with glass full of water. In patients suffering with vomiting it is given as intramuscularly or intra venous injection under doctor supervision.

Always remember to inform your health expert if you are taking any prescription or OTC medication.

1)     If you have any unusual reactions with domperidone  or

2)     If you are suffering from stomach pain, bleeding from stomach or any liver disease.

If you are planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding pl. make sure you notify to your health expert.

Side effects and when to consult your health expert:

Domperidone causes dry mouth, loose stools, headache, and rashes and gynaecomastia. Cardiac problems may increase due to rapid intravenous injection.

Dosage and Missed Dose:

Dosage:

For the treatment of Nausea and Vomiting: Adult: 10 to 20 mg every 4 to 8 hours up tp maximum dose 80mg per day. or

Use as directed by your physician, your physician prescribes depending on the severity of disease.

Use the complete course of medication as prescribed by your physician even though you feel better after one or two days of usage of medication.

Missed dose: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at same time to cover up the missed dose

Storage:

Domperidone should be stored at room temperature between (15-30 degrees C). Store it in a place where it won’t be exposed to excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight never store in bathroom. Keep it out of reach of children. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed of safely.

General information:

It has additive effect if it is given with levodopa or bromocrptine in treating parkinsonism.
