Uses of this medication:

Bupropion is used in the treatment of depression.

Bupropion is also used to help the people in smoking cessation.

 

How to use this medication:

Bupropion can be taken with or with out food.

Sustained release tablets do not crush or chew, swallow it as a whole.

 

What you need to discuss with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication.

Always remember to inform your health expert if you are taking any prescription or OTC medication.

Inform your doctor if you are having kidney disease, liver disease, bipolar disorder or using any sedatives.

Inform your doctor if you have epilepsy or seizure disorder or eating disorder.

For pregnancy risk it is comes under category C.

If you are planning to become pregnant or pregnant or breast-feeding pl. make sure you notify to your health expert.

 

Side effects and when to consult your health expert:

Behavioral changes, Insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, nervousness, nausea, dry mouth.

If any of the above symptoms worse consult your doctor immediately.

 

Dosage and Missed Dose:

Dosage:

For depression 100mg two times daily to three times daily if required.

For smoking cessation start with 150mg daily once and increased to 150mg two times daily after three days. or

Use as directed by your physician, your physician prescribes depending on the severity of disease.

Use the complete course of medication as prescribed by your physician even though you feel better after one or two days of usage of medication.

 

Missed dose: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at same time to cover up the missed dose

 

Storage

 

Bupropion should be stored at room temperature between (15-30 degrees C). Store it in a place where it won’t be exposed to excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight never store in bathroom. Keep it out of reach of children. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed of safely.

 

General information

 

Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Bupropion, alcohol increase the risk for convulsions.

Start taking bupropion one week before you plan to stop smoking. If you can not quit smoking even after the 7th week you start taking medication consult your doctor and do not stop taking medication suddenly to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

It is imp to read manufacturing packaging instruction carefully if available and always do not hesitate to consult pharmacist or physician for any information.
